Description

Located in the charming village of Braddan, just outside Douglas on the Isle of Man, Braddan Bridge House is a shining example of accessibility and inclusivity. As the flagship accommodation of the Joey Dunlop Foundation, this purpose-built complex reflects the foundation’s dedication to providing exceptional lodging for visitors with disabilities. Established in 2001, the charity is committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their mobility needs, can experience the beauty of the Isle of Man.

Braddan Bridge House features five fully accessible apartments, including three on the ground floor with level access from the courtyard and two on the first floor, which can be reached via a platform lift or external steps. Designed with accessibility at its core, each unit offers thoughtful features such as wheelchair-friendly shower and bathroom facilities, profiling beds, and hoists available upon request. The accommodations include a mix of single-bedroom and two-bedroom units, all equipped with twin beds to suit the needs of various guests. For larger groups, the first-floor apartments can be interconnected, accommodating up to eight guests.

The property’s dedication to comfort extends to its amenities, including on-site parking, an EV charging station, WiFi, a self-service laundry, and outdoor picnic and BBQ areas. A large concrete car park with ramped access to public walkways ensures ease of navigation, while features such as extendable beds and oxygen availability further enhance the stay for guests with specialist medical requirements.

The Joey Dunlop Foundation’s team, including disabled staff and trustees, brings invaluable experience to the design and management of the property, ensuring every detail meets the needs of less able visitors. Guests are also supported with assistance in exploring the island, making it a seamless and enjoyable experience. Whether you’re visiting for a tranquil retreat or an adventure-filled holiday, Braddan Bridge House offers an inclusive and welcoming haven for all.
