Osprey Cottage is a charming semi-detached retreat nestled within tranquil wooded grounds in the peaceful hamlet of Alcaig on the Black Isle. The owners live on-site, within the two-acre grounds, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The cottage offers stunning, ever-changing views of the Cromarty Firth and the majestic mountains of Easter Ross, visible from both bedrooms and the lounge. The view shifts with the tides and the changing light, creating a picturesque backdrop. The tidal firth is a haven for wildlife, where Ospreys can often be seen fishing in the summer, and in winter, thousands of geese flock to the fields and overhead.

Modern, well-equipped, and spotlessly clean, Osprey Cottage is a peaceful getaway. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area offers panoramic views across the Cromarty Firth towards Ben Wyvis. The cottage is accessible, featuring ramp access, making it suitable for some disabled guests and wheelchair users. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, washer-dryer, gas hob, electric oven, microwave, and a fridge with a small freezer compartment. The spacious double bedroom has a king-sized bed and a walk-in wardrobe, while the single bedroom also boasts views of the Firth and mountains.

The lounge is cozy and well-equipped with a TV, Freeview, built-in DVD player, CD/radio, games, books, and helpful local information. Under-floor heating with individually controllable thermostats in each room, plus a heated towel rail in the shower room, ensures comfort throughout the year.

From the dining area, French doors lead out to a private patio with outdoor seating, offering a peaceful spot to relax and take in the natural beauty. The cottage shares wooded gardens with the owners, where birdlife is abundant, and is located at the end of a private drive with parking directly in front.

While tranquil, Osprey Cottage is conveniently located for visits to Dingwall (3 miles) and Inverness (12 miles). It’s an ideal base for exploring the Highlands, with some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery—Glen Affric, Loch Ness, Torridon, and Assynt—all within an hour’s drive. The Black Isle itself is home to historic villages like Cromarty, beautiful beaches such as Rosemarkie, and Chanonry Point, renowned for its dolphin sightings. The cottage is also pet-friendly, welcoming up to two well-behaved pets by arrangement.
